Because dogs need holidays too...
We felt like we needed a bit of a break. But we didn't want the hassle of going abroad, so we started searching for dog friendly hotels in Ireland! We really wanted to be by the beach so that was a factor too.
We came across this place called Carnaween House that had themselves listed as dog friendly and when we saw the location, we were intrigued!
Carnaween House is ON the beach. You can see the sea from your bed! It's incredible! It's in Donegal, up on the very north coast, close to Portnoo. We drove up from Dublin and from the moment we set paw out of the car we felt relaxed.
We went into reception to check in and were given a warm welcome! They showed us to our room and we decided to take a nap to recover from the long drive. The rooms are really cosy, pawfect for a nap.
Next on the agenda...dinner! We booked a table in the hotel restaurant. It was great to be able to wake up from a nap and just go downstairs for dinner. The restaurant is cosy and has a stunning view of the coast, and the food was delicious!
We were so full after our meal that we decided to call it a night and headed back to the bedroom to sleep. We needed some energy for all the beach walks we had planned.
The next morning we decided to take our breakfast outside to soak up those stunning sea views. French toast by the sea, now that's a holiday!
We spent two nights total at Carnaween House and we loved it! We felt so welcome, all the staff were wonderful to us. We loved how relaxing it was to have everything we needed at walking distance. We could have a meal and then trot down to the beach after. Pawfect for a weekend getaway!
Conclusion
Pawtastic! It's hard to find a holiday destination in Ireland that is so dog friendly, hassle free and enjoyable, but Carnaween House ticked all those boxes, and more!
