Starbuck Ireland Becomes Dog Friendly
This is HUGE news for the dog friendly community all over Ireland! Starbucks becomes the second big chain of cafes to allow dogs inside their cafes all across Ireland
Home of the Puppacino
Starbucks have long been known for their delicious puppacinos. The only problem was if you wanted one you had to get it to takeaway, and in some cases you needed an additional human with you to go in and get it for you. But that's all in the past now.
Starting now, you and your pup can head on in to any Starbucks in the country and get your frappacino with a puppacino on the side (and maybe a croissant) and chill out together anywhere you like inside the cafe.
How did we find this out?
Our human was in a Starbucks and got chatting to a manager there who gave her the exclusive pupdate! Before putting paw to press we also contacted Starbucks Ireland by email to confirm the pawsome news, which they did!
What's in a Starbucks Puppacino?
It's just a small cup of whipped cream, no coffee or tea or anything. And if Jesse's reaction is anything to go buy, it's delicious.
Is It All The Starbucks?
The policy change comes from the top, so it should be across all the chains. However, there will be some Starbucks who are inside of Shopping Centres, like Dundrum for example, and don't have a street entrance, and they may have to let the centre have the final say. In those cases we would recommend you ask in both the Starbucks and at the centre, maybe if you carry your pup in you would be allowed. But for those Starbucks in Shopping Centres that do have a street entrance, like Liffey Valley for example, there shouldn't be any problem.
As always, be kind and courteous to staff, some may not yet be aware that there has been a change in policy. So if you are stopped, tell them that there has been a recent pet policy change in Starbucks and dogs are now allowed inside.
Bigger Picture
The fact that Starbucks have become dog friendly indoors is a really positive sign for the dog friendly movelment in Ireland. With 73 cafes open across Ireland we think this welcomed move by the coffee giant will give a gentle nudge to other cafe chains and even more shops and restaurants in general to do the same.
Having so many dog friendly Starbucks will help normalise the idea of a dog being in a cafe. Once that happens and businesses see the benefits (more loyal customers, opportunity to sell dog related goodies) of being dog friendly, we could be a lot closer to becoming as dog friendly as our European neighbours.
The Next Step
Get to your local Starbucks and order yourself a puppacino! Then snap a picture and tag us on Instagram. That way we can share the good news!
Until the next pupdate, stay dog friendly!
